A view into our living room

So I thought it would be fun to give you a little tour of our "living room" or "family room".  What ever you want to call it! :)  This is the family room to date.  There are several things that I would like to change, but for now, I think its warm & comfortable & that's what I am shooting for! :)

Here is a shot of the living room from the kitchen.  I absolutley love our fire place.  I'll show a better picture in a second.  We have had these couches and matching side tables and coffee table since Oct. of 2007.  SO ready to get new furniture.  I actually don't mind the couches or the color, they are a little different and I like that.  I'm over the "matchy matchy" side tables and coffee tables.  It's time for a change.

We just bought this rug from a local ATL store, but it came from Amazon.com.  I LOVE IT.  It's very contemporary and I love the red which ties in well with the couches.  It is so soft and it's huge!  I am not use to not having carpet so I really wanted something that was large and took up most of the hardwood.  I like being able to lie on the floor with Liam and play on something soft! :)

Here's a view of the big couch and just another angle of the room.  Target book case, also bought at the end of 2007.  The art work above the couch is pretty simple.  It's samples of wall paper from Home Depot that are 8x10 samples that are only .99 a piece!  I wanted to get different, bold colors and they are all different textures and they really show through in their homes (the frames from Michaels).  I am planning to put up some shelves that I made, I just need to get long enough screws!  And have the hubby help me hang them.  Maybe a project for tomorrow...

Our fire place.  I LOVE it.  I love the red brick with the white molding.  It is so crisp looking, will never change it.  I just recently bought the mirror.  The room needed some circular-ness in the room.  Not to have everything so straight edge, hence the circular-ness rug :)  Circular-ness is a word, right??  Anywhoo, I plan on purchasing some real big and tall sconces to place on each side of the mirror just to have the fire place be the focal point with a big punch!  I love our TV and its so nice that its off to the side and not necessarily a focal point anymore like it was in our old place.

This is what you see when you walk in the front door.  I mean, it's a ways away from the front door, but you can still see it.  Cute little Target console table, bold vase and cute little family photos. :)  Oh, and Liam's toy box on the right and so many books, they are coming out of my ears!  Those are books in the little brown things under the console table too...

Once I get our room cleaned up, I will take pictures and do a tour of our master bedroom.  I hope you enjoyed the living room!  PLEASE tell me if you have any suggestions.  I GLADLY accept those! :)

Take care & thanks for reading!!
